Haley Houk runs a full private lesson studio and is an active performer in Houston, Texas. She is principal bassoon with local symphonies, as well as a collaborator in the Ladies' Reeding Society, a chamber music collective dedicated to performing works by women and other marginalized composers. Haley is pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Houston under the guidance of Elise Wagner, affiliate artist at UH and second bassoonist in the Houston Symphony. As the owner of TheJoyousBassoon, she crafts supplies and accessories for double reeds that are as unique as the musicians!

In her downtime she loves being outdoors with her fiancé, reading, and spending time with family (and cat Minny!).

Haley gained her Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance at Baylor University in 2020. While there, she performed with a wide variety of ensembles- notably the nationally award winning Baylor Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. Haley subbed with the Waco Symphony Orchestra on bassoon/contrabassoon and also performed with the graduate wind and reed quintets. She has had the opportunity to attend the Fresno Orchestra/Opera Summer Academy where she studied with Catherine Marchese, as well as attend the Glickman-Popkin bassoon camp where she has performed in numerous masterclasses with performers from the Chicago, Boston, and Dallas Symphonies.

For undergradaute studies, Haley attended Texas Christian University where she earned her BME in 2015. While at TCU, she had the privilege of performing at CBDNA and PASIC, touring Europe with the International Harmony Symphony, and performing world premieres for several wind pieces and bassoon repertoire.
